Hi everyone from a newly diagnosed but long suffering enthesitis patient.
I have suffered from the condition since my 20's and was finally diagnosed last summer, when 60. My problem has been that as an Ulcerative Colitis sufferer too and also having disc prolapses in my neck, they were masking everything else.
Now our challenge is to find meds that will deal with the UC and the enthesitis. Go of to a bad start. Reacted to Sulfasalazine. Was switched to MTX but after 3 months of tabs it was concluded that my UC was preventing me from absorbing the MTX. So I switched to injectable form and within three weeks was in hospital with a violent reaction.
So now we are in the interregnum while we decide what next.
I have used acupuncture successfully in the past for migraine. Is there any evidence it helps in RA type conditions?
What about TENS machines?
I am off work - have been since Feb 4th, signed off till August, and may to go onto company's long term sickness scheme.
